Way back in the mists of time, around 2005 I think, I was finishing off E.ON’s brand tone of voice guidelines and we were talking about how to get them rolled out. E.ON asked me to do some training.
I’d never delivered training before but I agreed and figured I’d work out how to do it later.
And with immense help from my amazing colleagues, Thomas, Rachael and Janet, we created some tone of voice training and lined up the first day.
Then E.ON mentioned that the first session would be for the trainers – around 20 of them.
To say I was nervous is an understatement, I was petrified. My first ever day of training and I had to deliver to trainers.
Well, those folks had all been there, so they were more than generous with their support and the day was a success. We went on to train around 8,500 people.
I got a taste for running workshops, loved delivering them. Then in 2008, BP asked me to give a speech at their leadership conference in Barcelona. Again, I was nervous but excited.
And that’s where I got a taste for public speaking. I’ve since been invited to speak in Atlanta, Berlin, Cannes, Denver, London and more.
And I’m only just getting going. So to help me get more speaking gigs, I’ve made a little showreel, so people can see me in action.
Please let me know if you can see any ways I can improve it.
And if you can think of anyone who’d like to get me on stage, do pass it on to them.
